Tonight I watched a news item on the ABC news, featuring Colin Barnett giving a speech to the 500 club of Western Australia.
"Mr Barnett has addressed a business lunch hosted by the 500 club, which today pledged $400,000 for the Liberal Party's election campaign...." read more here.
What this article doesn't mention is that the pledge for $400,000 to the Liberal party was for assistance in campaigning in marginal seats, Kalamunda being one of those.
So I wondered....why would a club of business men from the big end of town, be so desperate for the Liberals to win. Could it be that their businesses would benefit from the possibly open ear of the Liberal party? Surely that $400,000 comes with strings attached? What would this mean for communities like Kalamunda who are trying to protect their pristine area from the sites of developers, miners and the coal industry?
Please, send a message to the major parties this election and think about voting for candidates who will stand up to big business.
